Welcome

Most of us cannot afford a personal armed security guard to protect us when we are out or even in the comfort of our own home. First responders are reactive in that they respond, when called, to an incident that has already begun or ended. It takes time to respond and by then, it may be too late. If you own a firearm or are thinking about purchasing one for personal protection in and away from your home and you have not received training, please call us. Without the proper training to really understand the armed defense lifestyle, you are doing yourself a grave disservice that can be very costly and even deadly. Please do not be fooled into thinking you do not need training just because Ohio no longer requires a CHL to legally carry a concealed handgun. Arm yourself with Knowledge, Skill, and Mindset (KSM) before arming yourself with a gun.

NRA and USCCA certified firearms and home defense instructor. In addition. I have owned and operated firearms for over 40 years. As a former college professor, I am experienced in effectively teaching and developing class material for adult education.

Programs

Ohio Concealed Carry Training Course

Our classes are designed around the NRA Guide to Basics of Pistol Shooting and the USCCA Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals. The training meets and exceeds the requirements defined in sections 2923.125(G)(1) and 2923(G)(2) of the Ohio Revised Code. Upon successful completion of the class, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion which verifies the necessary handgun competency to apply for an Ohio Concealed Handgun License (CHL).

Time: 8 hours

Cost: $100.00 / student

Emergency First Aid Fundamentals

Designed around the USCCA Emergency First Aid Fundamentals course with additional topics including wound closure using sutures, staples, glue, and zip strips, as well as system failure survival medicine.

Time: 8 hours

Cost: $100.00 / student for each class

I attended a "drawing from a holster" course in April of 2024 with another instructor. Since the course, no practice drawing from a holster. During some range time training with Mike Sweet (from MOTD) I practiced more and more and became much more comfortable, while improving my skills greatly. This was mostly due to Mike's observing me and providing feedback. He coached me and gave advice in several areas such as "stepping off the x" as I draw, beginning to fire as I complete my drawing motion and not focusing on closing one eye and aiming at the target. Mike also timed me and gave me goals to try to achieve regarding the time of the draw and completing all shots. I'm very thankful to Mike for sharing his knowledge with me and for always focusing first and foremost on safety.
